The jack-up vessels named GustoMSC NG-20000X are the next-generation vessels that can carry heavier loads of Wind Turbine more than the older vessels.
The GustoMSC NG-20000X is DNV-certified. Its design features occupy 5,600 sq m of deck space. It has a carrying capacity of more than 17,600 tons and is now one largest vessels in the industry to carry the heavy loads of Wind Turbine.
GustoMSC NG-20000X can carry as many as seven complete 15-MW turbine sets as well as install them. Additionally, it can also carry five sets of 20 MW-plus turbines. This extensive capacity could not be achieved by previous vessels. However, the new installations can now reduce the number of trips needed to carry the turbines. Other benefits that are offered by the new vessels are the faster installation speed and improved economics of projects. Most importantly, it will reduce the carbon footprint of the installation process.
The NOV will also provide the jacking vessel system that can lift the vessel and the load on the vessel above the waterline. Thus the installation of Wind Turbine can be done faster and efficiently. The vessels are incorporated with regenerative power system technology that has the ability to potentially reduce fuel consumption and minimize carbon emissions. The first vessel will be delivered to the RWE’s 1.4-GW Sofia offshore wind park situated in the central North Sea by the third quarter of 2024. Moreover, Nov will also supply new heavy-lift cranes for the Candler.
